How we know these numbers are right
Tested against 4,794 published IRS values. All match.
Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T for 2026, the method payroll systems use, line by line. Before every release we check it against every amount in the IRS’s printed 2026 withholding tables.
What’s tested, and what isn’t yet
- Tested against IRS tables: Form W-4 from 2020 or later; weekly, every-two-weeks, twice-a-month, monthly and daily pay; single, married filing jointly and head of household; with and without the two-jobs box.
- Tested against worked examples: Social Security stopping at $184,500, the extra 0.9% Medicare tax over $200,000, child and earned income credits, and the tips, overtime and senior deductions.
- State coverage is listed here.
- City and county taxes: New York City and Yonkers, Philadelphia, every Ohio city and village (from the Ohio Department of Taxation’s database), Detroit, Grand Rapids, Louisville, Kansas City, St. Louis, Wilmington, and every Maryland and Indiana county.
